Project
Management Institute (PMI) - Case Study
The work undertaken by Headland Project Management
Ltd at Terminal 1, London Heathrow Airport has been developed
into a formal Case Study by the Project Management Institute
(PMI) in the United States of America. The document outlines
the various strategies implemented by Headland to design and
deliver this extremely complex project and benchmarks these
success factors against the PMI Project Management Body of
Knowledge (PMBOK) often referred to as the bible of Project
Management practices.
This is an outstanding achievement by the Headland team and
reflects the high regard in the manner that this project was
interpreted, developed and ultimately delivered. This also
reflects our ongoing passion and dedication to deliver outstanding
value to our customers.

Global Project
of the Year 2009
Headland Project Management through its successful
delivery of the T1 Arrivals and Departures Refurbishment project
at London Heathrow Airport has made it through to the final
three candidates for the very prestigious Project Management
Institute Global Project of the Year Award for 2009. This
is an outstanding achievement and reflects the excellent effort
produced by the staff at Headland and the wider project team.
This is further emphasised by the fact that we are the only
nominee outside of the USA and the other contenders are the
global engineering firm Fluor Enterprises Inc. and the Colorado
State Patrol who organised the security for the Democratic
National Convention. The winner will be announced in Orlando
on October 10, 2009 at the Project Management Institute's
global conference at which David will be speaking.

Queens Building
at London Heathrow Begins its Demolition
The iconic Queens Building located between
Terminals 1 and 2 has entered into its demolition phase as
part of the enabling works for the new Terminal 2a building
at London Heathrow Airport. This building was opened on 16th
December 1955 and has featured in many notable photographs
including the Beatles on their return to England following
their ground-breaking tour of the USA. This building also
housed the Headland Project Management staff when they were
appointed to manage the delivery of the £60m T1 Arrivals
and Departures Refurbishment project.
